    CABWHP 10th Anniversary Gala "Women Who Dared:Our Legacy and our Future"

    We marked our 10th year Anniversary and acknowledged four "Women Who Dared" during our recent breakfast celebration. The gala, emceed by actress Lisa Gay Hamilton, was held at the City Club on Bunker Hill in Los Angeles on June 10, 2004.

    Advocate Training Program 2004: Developing Black Women's Health Activists


    CABWHP will soon begin training a new class for our innovative Advocate Training Program (ATP). The ATP is a program that is designed to train women from the grassroots community to become effective health policy activists and advocates.

    Update: Universal Healthcare in California
     
     
    Senate Bill 921, authored by State Senator Sheila Kuehl (D-23) which would provide comprehensive health benefits to every Californian at no new cost to California's general fund, has been passed by the State Assembly Health Committee by a vote of 12 to 5.

    Status: Senate Appropriations Committee (Passed the Assembly on April 29, 2004)

    AB 2012, authored by Assemblymember Judy Chu (D - Monterey Park), would prohibit the manufacturing, processing, or distributing in the state of California of a cosmetic or personal care product identified as containing cancer-causing chemicals such as phthalates.
